READY TO RUN

In 2019, Áspero took the gravel world by storm, heralding a "new era of speed in gravel." Pure fun, but at full throttle. The new Áspero stays true to its original concept, but with a few improvements: a threaded bottom bracket, cleaner cable routing, and a UDH-compatible derailleur hanger for those who want to use SRAM drivetrains. And of course, it's more aerodynamic. In the case of the Áspero, aerodynamic performance isn't so much about pure speed resulting from reduced drag as it is about energy conservation. After a long day in the wind, the 3 watts saved compared to the old Áspero can mean one less energy gel for your stomach to digest, which is definitely worth it.

In addition to reducing drag, the seat stays have also been lowered to provide a bit more compliance at the rear and slightly reduce stiffness at the front, making the final hours of a long race less painful. Between these lowered seat stays, there's also a bit more room for mud, taking into account lessons learned from the R5-CX (and the 2023 Unbound Mud Festival). These are a multitude of seemingly minor improvements, but together they make a big difference. The result is a bike that feels very much like the original Áspero, but is faster, more comfortable, and more versatile.

T47 bottom bracket

The Áspero uses a threaded T47a asymmetric bottom bracket first introduced on the R5-CX. This is a simple and effective solution, allowing for home maintenance , and offering the advantages of BBRight in a simpler form.

Sram UDH Universal Derailleur Hanger

The new Aspero features SRAM's standard universal derailleur hanger (UDH) . This allows compatibility with the new SRAM drivetrains recently released on the market and, most importantly, ensures compatibility with future developments .

An easily adaptable cockpit

The Áspero shares the same bearings as the R5, Soloist, R5-CX, and Caledonia, meaning you can use any combination of headset and stem. Want a super-racer look with fully integrated cable routing? You can use the ST31 and HB13 models from the R5.
